How it works

When the joy of a child's birth is overshadowed by a diagnosis, parents put all their energy into finding specialists, methods and medicines. It is worth remembering that, whatever the diagnosis, the child is first of all a person with their own character, needs, emotions and wishes.

Psychological correction is grouped by the area where the difficulty arises. Cognitive work develops attention, memory, thinking, perception and imagination, and helps the child organise and master learning activities such as reading and writing. Work on the emotional, volitional and motivational sphere and self-awareness covers emotions, feelings, wishes, motives, goals, attitudes to oneself and others, self-control and self-regulation.

Behavioural work addresses motor disinhibition, problems with voluntary control, aggressive or demonstrative behaviour, timidity, withdrawal and dependent behaviours; communication problems such as shyness, difficulty making contact and keeping trusting relationships, intrusiveness and conflict; and relationships between parents and children and within groups. Work on neurotic states covers fears, neurotic stuttering, enuresis, tics, low mood and insomnia, together with prevention of neuroses, whether fixation on a negative emotional state or, conversely, emotional instability and overreaction to surroundings.
