Tomatis — neuro-auditory stimulation
Sound-stimulation programme by Alfred Tomatis. Improves attention, speech, regulation — especially in ASD, dyslexia, ADHD.

How it works
Better attention, memory, speech, learning ability, emotional control, motor skills and coordination, and improved vestibular function are only some of the areas where we see a clear positive effect from Tomatis neuro-auditory stimulation.
The Tomatis® method is natural neurosensory stimulation delivered through a portable device called TalksUp. Before the programme a certified Tomatis practitioner carries out a diagnostic consultation and draws up an individual schedule of sessions. The child listens through headphones to classical music processed by special filters while playing, drawing, moving freely or simply resting, and the brain does the work. The device processes music and voice with special parameters, including electronic gating: a non-invasive technique that creates sound contrast by switching rapidly between low and high frequencies, so the brain keeps adapting to changing sound and is trained naturally. Special audio programmes modify music and voice in real time to develop motor, emotional and cognitive abilities.
How does it affect speech? How precisely we perceive and analyse sounds determines how well we can reproduce them, and using the voice well also means listening to oneself. The sound of our own voice reaches the ear by bone and air conduction, the brain analyses it and sends signals to correct it: a constant loop between ear, brain and voice known as the audio-vocal loop. When this loop is disrupted, often for emotional or cognitive reasons, rhythm, timbre, range and intensity of the voice can suffer, leading to less desire to communicate, difficulty expressing thoughts, slow or imprecise speech, a dull, shrill or nasal voice, poor expressiveness or loss of volume control. Working actively on the audio-vocal loop with the Tomatis® method restores the connection between brain, ear and voice.
